Congratulations to all of the Barnwell students who were honored by the Journalism Education Association for their work. The following students earned national recognition in the JEA Middle School Contest:

  • Excellent rating - Chase Pray - in the Yearbook Copy category (story about the fall book fair)
  • Excellent rating - Carter Berg - in the Yearbook Copy category (story about the power outage)
  • Excellent rating - Jose Delapaz - in the News/Academic Photo and Caption category (photo from a class activity)
  • Excellent rating - Lily Duncan -  in the News/Academic Photo and Caption category (photo from the play)
  • Honorable Mention rating - Gavin Swart -  in the Broadcast Package News Story category (video story about band candy bar sales)
  • Honorable Mention rating - Violet Newton -  in the News-Feature Writing category (story about the 2019 Barnwell Teacher of the Year)
  • Honorable Mention rating - Chase Pray -  in the News-Feature Writing category (story about the 2019 Barnwell Support Staffer of the Year)
  • Honorable Mention rating - Carter Berg -  in the News-Feature Writing category (story about how one family enjoys the Christmas holidays)
  • Honorable Mention rating - McKenna Hudson -  in the News-Feature Writing category (story about a teacher who brings her dog to school)
  • Honorable Mention rating - Anna Scognamiglio -  in the News/Academic Photo and Caption category (photo from the play)
  • Honorable Mention rating - Patricia Fechter -  in the News/Academic Photo and Caption category (photo from the play)
